At Stormont everyone is important from the youngest to the eldest. Our aim is to welcome everyone and to help them belong and encourage them in their relationship with God.
The services of baptism and thanksgiving provide a special opportunity for the congregation to fulfil this aim.
As a Presbyterian Church we baptise adults and children. We also offer a service of thanksgiving for children.
Communion (also known as the Lord’s Supper) is a meal Jesus shared with his disciples, shortly before His death on the cross. Using bread and wine, Jesus explained to his followers the meaning of his death.
At Stormont , communion is celebrated at least seven times a year – 1st Sunday January, March, September and November and Pentecost Sunday, Easter Sunday and during Holy Week each Easter.
What happens on a Sunday evening is open to everyone, church family members and those who have another church connection or no church connection. It is not a clique but an open, welcoming occasion to do as James instructs ‘Draw near to God and he will draw near to you’ (James 4:8)
Philippians 4:6 is our guiding principle:
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Please accept this invitation to come and receive support, encouragement and prayer.
The Gospel of Mark is the second of the four gospels in the New Testament, written by John Mark to Gentile Christians in Rome as an evangelism and discipleship manual. It recounts many of the events of Jesus' life in narrative fashion and focuses significant attention on the final week of His passion in Jerusalem.
